Spiders, Spiders Everywhere!

The Daintree Rainforest is the most remote and farthest north we ventured in Queensland.  We came here to see spiders, it would seem...
Jake's making that face because of the next photo...

I spotted this fully grown Golden Orb Weaver.  Scale is hard to tell, so imagine that the body of this spider alone is 5 cm long.  With the legs, she's the size of a plate.  BARF! BARF!

Um... in the Daintree Discovery Center bathroom, a Huntsman spider is chilling next to a tree frog.  Just one little fact:  they are both  the size of a an adult human hand.

Jaramali Rainforest Retreat - the coolest place we stayed.

The louvered windows all had screens.  Totally civilized.

Stick insect.  It was very, very fun to hold this guy.

Exotic fruit tasting.  Surprisingly fun!

Serious Rainforest Burger

Breadfruit fries.

Mangrove forest at dusk.
Cape Tribulation beach, where James Cook hit a reef in 1770 and  decided that he doesn't like it.

Katie is very upset because we interrupted her eating... SAND.

Best idea ever.

Most expensive gas ever.

Our Queensland plates.  Most people had "The Sunshine State" logo, but we ended up with "The Smart State".

As usual...
